Madhya Pradesh constitetes the central Indian state. It is also known as the second largest indian state. Madhya Pradesh state came into being on 1st November 1956.

Madhya Pradesh has seen several rulers in which king Ashoka, Guptas, Mughals, Marathas was to name a few. King Ashoka was ruled over ujjain. From 300-500A.D. some part of it was ruled by Gupta empire. The era of Muslim rulers started in Madhya Pradesh from 11th century with the emergence of Mahmoud of Ghazini and Mohammad Gouri. This central Indian state was also part of the Mughal empire and Marathas.

Queen Ahilyabai, Kamalpati, Queen Durgawati were amongst some outstanding women rulers from this state who made an unforgettable marks on the Indian history.

Madhya Pradesh is richer in culture and traditions. One can see lots of tribal festivals here. Madhya Pradesh also has a tourism importance. It comprises of one of the major tourist places of India. Madhya Pradesh tourism attracts adventurers, art lovers, and pilgrims. Omkareshwar, Mahakaleshwar are two of the twelve jyotirlinga which attracts large number of pilgrims. Temples like Khajuraho are famous all over the world among art lovers. Sanchi, Datia, Mandu, Gwalior, Bhimbetika are quite a few name which are well known for their historical monuments. Amarkantak is known for the origination of river Narmada which have their own religious significance. Kanha National Park, Bandhavgarh National Park attracts wild life lovers and nature lovers.

These places are responsible for making Madhya Pradesh as an important tourist destination.
