Amarkantak

Amarkantak is the place which has its religious significance. Amarkantak lies in Anuppur District. The name Amarkantak originates from Sanskrit. 'Riksh Parbat'is the Puranic name of Amarkantak.It is also known by the name of Teerthraj. Amarkantak is the origination point of holy river Narmada and Sone. Narmada is describes as the daughter of Lord Shiva. As per the saintly scriptures, river Narmada transcends all other sacred rivers with her strong asset as the daughter of Lord Shiva. According to legend, the mere sight of this river cleanses one's all sins. Amarkantak narrates the tales of various dynasties, right from Pandavas to the overseas rule of modern times. Amarkantak is situated at the meeting point of Vindhya and Satpura mountain ranges. One can experience the sacredness of this place by coming here.

Narmadakund
Narmadakund is the pool(kund) which is built at the source of river Narmada. Narmadakund temple is built by bhonsles of Nagpur. The outer boundry wall of the temple was constructed by Maharaja Gulab Singh of Baghel dynasty of Rewa. There are number of holy temples such as Narmada and Shiva temple, Kartikey temple, Sriradhakrishna temple, Vangeswar Mahadev temple, Siddheswar Mahadev temple, Sriram Janki temple, Shiv Parivar, Durga temple, Annapurna temple, Guru Gorakhnath temple, Srisuryanarayan temple, Eleven Rudra temple are situated around Narmadakund. Narmadakund is one of the most sacred places in Amarkantak.
Mai ki Bagiya
Situated at one kilometer from Narmadakund. Mai ki Bagiya is one of the delightful places in Amarkantak. It is also known as Goddes garden. It belives that Mata Narmada used to pluck flower from this garden. A cluster of trees such as Mango, Banana, rose and other flowers and fruits trees have been founded here. Along with it a large varieties of medicinal herbs also been founded here. According to legend, Mai ki Bagiya is the playground of Mata Narmada.
Sonmuda
Situated at one and a half kilometer from Narmadakund. Sonmuda is famous as an origination point of river Sone. The river(Sone) was named after its gold dust. Sonmuda is also popular as a Sunrise point. This place is situated in the dense forest area into the hills of Bastar Plateau.
Kabir Chabutra
Situated at three kilometer from Amarkantak. Kabir Chabutra is famous among the believers of Kabir. It believes that saint Kabir performed the meditation here. Kabir waterfalls also flows from here which increases the beauty of this place.
Jwaleswar Mahadev
Situated at eight kilometer from Amarkantak on Amarkantak-Shahdol road. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. This place is also popular as an origination point of river Johaila(third river of Amarkantak). According to mythology, lord Shiva established shivlingam here which was scattered into the several shivlingam in the mountains of Macala. Hence, this place is also famous as Maharudrameru. Jwaleswar Mahadev temple is located in deep forest area.
Kapildhara
Situated at eight kilometer from Narmadakund. At Kapildhara Narmada river falls from a height of 100 feet which enhances the natural beauty of this place. It believes that Kapil rishi used to meditate here. This waterfall is one of the beautiful tourists attractions in Amarkantak. Kapildhara is also known as the starting point of Narmada and Sone rivers.
Dudhdhara
Situated at one kilometer from Kapildhara. This is the another beautiful waterfall in Amarkantak.
Ganesh Temple, Bairagarh
Bairagarh is a small village which is known for its divine attractions. It is situated in Rajendragram-Amarkantak link road. An idol of Lord Ganesha,springs of pure water originating from Naramada and forest surrounded this temple increases the divine power and natural beauty of this place.. This place is situated into the lap of nature.
